An Agent Operating System on Top of Hermes: One Dashboard for Cloud Agents, Voice and the Lead Pipeline

Julian Goldie walks through an Agent OS setup that lifts Hermes Agent out of the terminal into a phone-like home screen: chat with model switching, cloud-backed agents, a voice helper, a daily news engine, content and competitor tracking, plus a customer pipeline from lead search to email sending.

Hermes Agent is a capable open-source agent grown under NousResearch, yet most people meet it through a black terminal window: past chats, scheduled jobs and generated files scatter across folders. The desktop app tidies things a little, but everything still squeezes into one chat box.

The pitch resembles the home screen you see when you unlock a phone: everything at a glance, every job one tap away. No tile on this screen is decoration; behind each one sits a Hermes agent doing real work. Chat, voice, news, content, competitor tracking and sales sit side by side.

Underneath lies Hermes itself: an agent that recalls conversations and preferences, distills new skills from experience and runs scheduled tasks on its own. Its GitHub record approaches a quarter million stars under an MIT license; fans host it on a private server or a small virtual machine. Without this layer no tile on the board would stay alive.

The front door is the chat screen: talk to Hermes there and swap the active model with one click. The official NousResearch docs describe the same idea, a local Dashboard served from your own machine and managed in the browser. First the chat, then the orchestra.

Agents that talk, read and write

The voice helper, Apollo, behaves like a remote control with a wake word: you speak, it answers, starts agent tasks and files key notes into the memory vault. Hearing the morning briefing read aloud and raising simple apps by voice command looks handy for keyboard-free moments.

The news agent, Oracle, sweeps the agenda every 24 hours and turns it into publish-ready copy in one click. Once trend watching and content output share one rail, a headline read in the morning becomes a draft by afternoon. For a solo blogger that rhythm means serious hours saved.

While the Muse content agent studies what performs, the Astros rival agent watches competitors. The board also hosts units such as Studio and a mixture of agents; everything produced lands in a searchable gallery. Finding past output later is half the job, and this setup treats it that way.

The sales side lives or dies on lead quality: email addresses fished from a language model blind can be largely invented, and Hunter puts that share at up to 76 percent. The fix is to verify people through Hunter before they enter any list. Verified data fuels the whole line.

From list to send: the customer line

Verified contacts flow into the kind of line Twin describes: details land in sheets and customer records by themselves, and a routine built once keeps running weekly on its own. One workflow told in plain words becomes a repeatable template; a small team can start narrow and widen the line later.

On architecture, the GoldieBench crew's measurements point the way: a strong command-line model as chief planner, light agent-tuned models as the free local lane. The template is said to refresh daily; the tenfold-power claim reads as sales talk. Treat this demo from a small channel of about thirteen hundred views as an idea mine, not gospel.

AI commentary

"As I see it, the trick here is not a new model but a tidy workbench: it turns jobs Hermes already does into something visible, clickable and searchable. Bright idea, yet the tenfold claim and the quality of the lead pool deserve a second look."

AI assessment

Seen from the other side the picture balances out: the board cures the true pain of Hermes users, clutter, and makes every job retrievable. Yet it remains a third-party shell; if Hermes itself or the NousResearch side shifts, upkeep falls back on you. The lead and mail line, verified data or not, still carries permission and reputation risk.

My verdict: worth a try for anyone lost in the terminal and hungry for order; no miracle for anyone chasing one. The community pitch at the end of the video smells of sales, so watch with that filter on. Lifting the notes and raising your own board costs nothing; a rain of customers is a separate job.
